CAMP SYNOPSIS

This camp is an active and engaging week of creativity for kids. Students are grouped by age. The morning program is  Creative Writing for all campers, where students build story writing skills. For the afternoon programming, you may choose Drama Using Tech (for ages 7-14), where students develop their confidence in performing for an audience or Debate (for ages 10-14), where students are inspired to debate on point with structure and confidence. The teacher-camper ratio is 1:6.

9:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Creative Writing [Ages 7-14]: Campers will be placed in groups by age. Campers will create and publish their own books! The teachers will take students through the planning, writing and editing stages of creating their narrative story. Campers will work with the teachers to choose themes and content they are inspired and excited by. At the end of the week, the campers will receive digital and print copies of their books!

1:00 PM to 4:00 PM

Drama Using Tech [Ages 7-14]: In the afternoon, the program helps kids build their confidence, as well as public speaking, leadership, teamwork, and collaboration skills. This session of the camp uses storytelling and role-playing. The kids work in groups to create a talk show or documentary on a topic of interest to them. They will record green-screen videos and learn to edit and produce their videos. At the end of the week, the campers will receive digital copies of their productions. This camp is for all aspiring young students, from the shy and reserved to the keen and confident speakers!

OR

Debate [Ages 10-14]: Campers are provided with opportunities to advocate for an idea, form a response, and speak on a point through impromptu public speaking games, debate feuds and formal debate rounds. Kids gain confidence, build resilience and develop effective collaboration skills. Campers participate in one debate round daily and receive constructive feedback from the teacher to advance their delivery and critical thinking skills. This camp is for all aspiring young students, from the shy and reserved to the keen and confident speakers!

* For campers enrolled in the before/after camp care program, morning drop-off starts at 8:30 AM, and afternoon pickup ends at 5:30 pm.
