We’re thrilled to announce that Power of Words Academy will be hosting the Toronto regional round of the prestigious World Scholar’s Cup in early May 2026! The exact dates will be announced in November 2025. This globally renowned competition attracts over 50,000 students from more than 60 countries, offering an unparalleled opportunity for young learners to develop critical thinking, teamwork, and creativity in a dynamic, inspiring environment.

  • Prep Course (November 2025 – April 2026):
    This comprehensive program includes competition registration and a POW Academy T-Shirt. Classes are held once a week, either online via Zoom on Sundays from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, or at our North York Campus on Saturdays from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM or 11:45 AM to 12:45 PM. The fee for the full prep course is $900.

  • Individual Participation:
    Register for participation on a POW Academy team, which includes a dedicated preparation session on May 3rd from 10 AM to 1 PM, along with a POW Academy T-Shirt. The total registration fee is $150 and covers the competition registration fee ($50). Registration for Individual Participation will open in November 2025.

The World Scholar’s Cup offers a transformative educational journey filled with engaging challenges that build collaboration, creativity, and confidence. Students compete in teams of three, tackling a variety of stimulating events such as:

  • Scholar’s Challenge: Test knowledge across diverse subjects.

  • Collaborative Writing: Showcase creativity and teamwork in writing.

  • Team Debate: Develop public speaking and argumentation skills.

  • Scholar’s Bowl: Participate in a fun quiz that tests quick thinking and teamwork.

Divisions cater to Junior (ages 10-14) and Senior (ages 15-17) students, ensuring a perfect fit for all skill levels

Our students have a proven record of excellence. In 2024 and 2025, Power of Words teams achieved top finishes at the GTA regional, earning first, second, and third places, as well as excellent performances in the Global rounds in Sweden and Slovenia. They brought home over 30 medals in individual and team events and qualified for the Tournament of Champions at Yale University each year—testament to our strong track record of success.
