2026 Unexpected Voices Speech Competition

Calling All Grade 9, 10, 11, and 12 Students!

Are you eager to earn volunteer hours while making a positive impact in your community? We are looking for passionate and enthusiastic students in Grades 9, 10, 11, and 12 to volunteer for the 2026 Unexpected Voices Speech Competition Finals and Awards Ceremony!

Join us on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at The Bishop Strachan School (298 Lonsdale Rd, Toronto) for a day filled with inspiration and celebration, where you will help support young speakers as they showcase their incredible talents.

As a volunteer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the event runs seamlessly, while gaining valuable experience and developing important leadership and organizational skills. This is a wonderful opportunity to contribute to an inspiring cause and be part of an unforgettable experience!

Volunteer Duties

Volunteers will assist with various tasks, including:

Pre-Event Setup

  • Contestant Registration: Check in contestants, hand out name badges, and guide participants to the stage.

  • Technical Rehearsal: Assist with sound checks and technical support for presentations.

  • Judge Briefing: Help prepare the judging area with refreshments and supplies.

During the Event

  • Stage Management: Guide students onto the stage and provide support during presentations.

  • Guest Services: Collect tickets, hand out programs, and assist with seating.

  • Food and Beverage Setup: Arrange meals for judges and refreshments for guests.

Closing Ceremony

  • Assist with the Awards Ceremony, including handing out awards and celebrating the achievements of all participants.
